Once upon a time / on a late summer's eve / a tremor in the leaves of the Whippoorwill Wood…

What is it?

An adventure module and micro-setting.  A kaleidoscopic treasure hunt through shifting forest lanes, gold-dappled meadows, violet glens, and miniature villages.   Race against fairy militias, mystical knights, woodland spirits, and the march of time itself on your quest for the fabled Wands of the Whippoorwill Wood.

This module was written for use with Cairn (by Yochai Gal, cairnrpg.com) and similar analog adventure games. Use it as the starting location for a new campaign, or as a quick stop in an ongoing one.

What's included?

The 30-page booklet includes the following (and more!):

  • A tri-crawl map with 10 keyed locations and surreal travel procedures
  • 9 factions and rules for running rival treasure hunters
  • Full bestiary, including 22 new creatures unique to this adventure
  • The Bailiwick of Swallowtail, a tight-knit colony of fairy hamlets
  • 2 adventure sites

Stumbled on this from a backlink and absolutely love it, what an evocative setting! Just wanted to give you a quick heads up though, I don't believe I'm the one that came up with the Tracker's Tongue. Looking through old posts on the NSR discord, I believe that was an invention of https://twitter.com/lasseborly. Just want to make sure credit landed where it's due!

Thanks for the fantastic adventure!

Oo thanks for the heads up (& for the kind words)! I must have scrolled a bit farther on that "More Relics" page than I realized---changes imminent!

This is tight! Love the art choice, factions are fun, npcs are fleshed out enough to use effectively, some ambiguities that make me happy to want to run this, because I can still make it my own without feeling bad!
